Where the Healing Begins

The "Women in the Whites" retreat was pretty great. Rumney, New Hampshire was stinkin’ beautiful. As I was surrounded by snow-capped mountains the whole weekend, it wasn’t hard to stand in awe of God and how big and mighty He truly is. Aside from the sessions, bangin’ food, snow-tubing, hockey games, and Zumba workouts, my favorite part of the retreat was being able to build stronger relationships with the girls in Cru. I LOVED spending one-on- one time with people and having late-night chats about our past and how God has shown us grace through it all, and continues to do so. I was able to get to know one of my dear friends to a whole other level on the retreat. We opened up to each other about our past, not-so- great dating relationships. We quickly realized that the troubles she is going through now, are things that God helped me through about 6 months ago! Literally exact same struggles. God obviously orchestrated all of that to happen on the retreat and made sure that we spent quality time with each other. It was so amazing for me to be able to use my vulnerable story of un-Godly relationships with a friend who so needed to hear God’s transformative power over my life and dating choices. It reminded me of 1 Peter 2:9, “As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” Isn’t it cool that God chooses to use us in the most unexpected, beautiful ways? God can use my story, my sins, my dumb choices to be a light to others and an example of His great redeeming power. He loves us and He wants us to be in community with each other. He wants us to DO LIFE with people.

Don’t be afraid to open up with another Christian. Be vulnerable. Be real. That’s where the healing begins. And God can use your story in ways that you couldn’t even imagine.
